European Compost Network Cré is a member of the European Compost Network. The European Compost Network (ECN) represents organic waste experts, treatment plants and biowaste organizations working with the recovery and use of biomass from 21 European and Acceding Countries in Europe. The Network is a collaboration of partners, promoting sustainable practices in composting, anaerobic digestion and mechanical biological treatment of organic residues across Europe by exchange of knowledge and experiences. Its aims to address the needs of both practical operators and decision makers.

ECN Position Paper (August 2006) Promoting the Sustainable Management of Biowaste Across the EU
States Launch Broadside on EU Biowaste Future (June 2006) Four EU member states unhappy at European commission unwillingness to propose anEU directive on biowaste treatment have launched a campaign canvassing support for the idea from other countries. Portugal, Spain, Germany and Austria say rules promoting separate collection and processing of biowaste are essential to kick-start a viable EU market for compost.

Status and Trends in Europe has been published by the ISWA
(International Solid Waste Association) Working Group on Biological Treatment.
The information in the publication is based on a questionnaire made by the
Working Group on Biological Treatment. The ambition for the group is to up-date
the publication with regular intervals and to enclose further countries.The
